Profiles Available for Black Hills Counties

Agriculture plays a huge role in the economy and culture of many Black Hills communities. Every five years the U.S. Department of Agriculture conducts the national Census of Agriculture. Every farm and ranch in the country is counted along with information on crop production and rural life.

Looking for historical information? The Census of Agriculture also offers a wealth of information on rural communities from past years.

A summary profile from the 2007 Census of Agriculture for each Black Hills county is posted below. In late 2012 and early 2013, the USDA will be conducting the next national Census of Agriculture, so watch for new data next year.
