Rapid City Council and Mayoral Term Lengths Extended

Starting after the mayoral election in 2013, the term length for Rapid City's mayor will increase from two to three years. An increase in city council term lengths will follow for those elected in 2014. The vote was split 6-4 in favor of the change. Because of the change, city council members who decide to run for mayor would not need to give up a council seat if elected mayor.
